Protestant section of the monumental cemetery in Turin

The Turin Cemetery was founded in 1827 in the Vanchiglia zone thanks to a generous donation from Marquis Tancredi Falletti of Barolo, Through the centuries Turinese Protestants were buried in constantly shifting areas within its walls. Until 1836 Protestants were buried with the suicides, outside the cemetery walls of that period. Then, thanks to intervention on the part of the Ambassador of Prussia and the Waldensian Pastor Amedeo Bert, it became possible to bury in the area reserved for catholic babies who died before being baptized. On January 15th, 1846 a specific area of the cemetery was assigned to protestant burials: it is in the so-called Hebrew field in the second addition to the cemetery.
