Sweets, Beer and Sport: The Many Interests of The Blattmann–Bosio’s
In Turin the Evangelical community consisted of Waldensians and families from a range of European countries. The Bosios among these had been in Turin since the 1730s and had worked in the city, specialising in confectionery. The Bosio family would later become famous for having established the first brewery in Piedmont in via della Consolata 24.
Edoardo Bosio and his wife Susanna Blatmann, of Swiss origin, were buried in grave number 52. When the couple died, the plot passed into the hands of the couple’s six children: their youngest son, Edoardo, also buried in the family tomb, was the founder of the Torino Football and Cricket Club. He had an adventurous and eclectic life, dealing with trade, practicing football and shooting short movies before World War 1.
In 1918 a plaque was placed on the tomb with an open book with two palm branches, a cross and the inscription Famiglia Bosio.
