In via San Domenico, next to the Gothic church of the same name that still exists (dating 13th-14th centuries), the Dominican order had their convent, and the seat of the Inquisition. As far as we know, in the 1300’s trials generally took place in the Bishop’s palace, that was demolished at the end of the 16th century to make room for the current Royal Palace in Piazza Castello. Among the various “heretics” who were condemned to death in the Middle Ages, two Waldensians were burned at the stake in Turin in 1388: Giacomo Beck of Chieri and Antonio Galosna from San Raffaele.
